Why we pick it It is the only 5,000 IU + K2 softgel we track on a testing list. That matters at a high dose: studies that tested vitamin D pills found some far off their labels, from under 10% to about double (Garg 2013). USP Verified checks that the bottle holds what the label says.
What you give up It costs $0.42 a day, about $133 a year more than Horbaach, and comes in a 30-count bottle. See the other picks below.
The best D3 5000 IU with K2 for your needs
Best for the lowest cost: Horbaach D3 + K2
The same 5,000 IU and 100 mcg of MK-7 for $0.05 a day, about $133 a year less than our pick. One bottle of 180 softgels lasts about six months. It is not on a testing list we check.

Best for the K2 dose used in trials: NOW Mega D-3 & MK-7

Do you need K2 with vitamin D?
K2 is optional. Vitamin D helps you absorb calcium, and vitamin K turns on proteins that handle calcium (van Ballegooijen 2017). That is why the two are often sold together. But no trial we found has tested D3 with K2 against D3 alone for broken bones or heart problems.
What trials did find is modest. In 8 trials with 971 people, vitamin D with vitamin K raised bone density a little (Kuang 2020). In a 3-year trial, 180 mcg of MK-7 a day slowed bone loss at the spine and the top of the thigh bone in women after menopause, but not at the hip as a whole, and it was not built to show fewer broken bones (Knapen 2013). The full review is in vitamin D with or without K2.
Is 5,000 IU with K2 safe?
5,000 IU is above the 4,000 IU daily upper limit for adults (Ross 2011). Doctors use it for a time to raise a low blood level, then check it again. Adding K2 does not make a higher vitamin D dose safer. Unless your doctor found you low, a 2,000 IU softgel covers most adults. Want D3 with K2 under the limit? Thorne Vitamin D + K2 drops give 2,000 IU a day with K2 and are on NSF/ANSI 173, the best pick for K2 on our best vitamin D page.
If you take warfarin, do not start any K2 product without your doctor. MK-7 at 50 mcg a day or more may interfere with warfarin (Schurgers 2007), and every bottle on this page has at least 100 mcg.
How much K2 to look for on the label
72.5% of the 327 standalone K2 labels we read name MK-7; 22.3% name no form and 4.3% name MK-4. Look for MK-7 with a printed dose. The typical K2 label gives 100 mcg, and the 3-year trial used 180 mcg. Few 5,000 IU bottles add K2 at all: 15.8% of the 95 labels at exactly 5,000 IU that we read in the NIH label database.
