Ovasitol vs Wholesome Story Inositol: Which Is Better? (2026)
Buy Ovasitol. Its label tells you to take 4 g a day, and that costs $0.96. Wholesome Story’s 180-scoop powder costs the same and is also on NSF/ANSI 173, so either is a good powder buy. Wholesome Story’s capsules cost $1.86 a day, about twice as much. Buy them if you would rather swallow capsules than mix a powder.

Same score. Cost decides it. Ovasitol costs about half as much a day as Wholesome Story’s capsules. Wholesome Story’s 180-scoop powder ($85.95) costs the same a day as Ovasitol, and NSF lists it too. Ovasitol’s edge: its label says 2 scoops a day, while the powder’s says 1 to 2 servings as needed, and Ovasitol also comes in single-serving packets. See every size and price.

Is either one third-party tested?
Both are. NSF/ANSI 173 lists Ovasitol and Wholesome Story’s capsules and powder by name. It checks that the label is accurate and that contaminants stay under set limits. Theralogix’s store calls Ovasitol “the first and only 40:1 inositol supplement that’s independently tested and certified by NSF International.” NSF also lists Wholesome Story’s 40:1 capsules and powder.

Are the amounts the same?
Yes. Each serving has 2 g of myo-inositol and 50 mg of D-chiro-inositol. The difference is how much each label tells you to take. Ovasitol’s says 2 scoops a day, which is 4 g, the amount many trials used. Wholesome Story’s bottle label says 4 capsules, which is 2 g. Its store now says up to twice that, and NSF’s listing gives 8 capsules a day.
What the price gap costs you
Wholesome Story’s capsules cost about 1.9 times as much. At each brand’s own list price, 4 g a day costs $0.96 with Ovasitol and $1.86 with the 120-capsule bottle: $352 against $680 a year, about $328 more. Even Wholesome Story’s 360-capsule bottle costs more a day than Ovasitol.
| Size | List price | 4 g a day | A year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ovasitol, canister, 180 servings | $86.68 | $0.96 | $352 |
| Wholesome Story, 120 capsules | $27.95 | $1.86 | $680 |
| Wholesome Story, 360 capsules | $69.95 | $1.55 | $567 |
| Wholesome Story powder, 30 scoops | $27.95 | $1.86 | $680 |
| Wholesome Story powder, 90 scoops | $69.95 | $1.55 | $567 |
| Wholesome Story powder, 180 scoops | $85.95 | $0.96 | $349 |
Wholesome Story’s store shows $0.93 a day for the 120 capsules because it prices 4 capsules (2 g), not 8. Ovasitol also comes in single-serving packets: $102.78 for a 90-day supply at its store, or $1.14 a day. Every myo-inositol we price: myo-inositol cost per dose.
How do they score?
The same: 8.0 out of 10 each, for dose, testing, label and recall record. Neither scores well on cost, because some 40:1 powders on no testing list cost much less. So cost decides it between these two: Ovasitol gives 4 g for about half the price of the capsules. How we score. All of them, ranked: the best myo-inositol.

Does one work better than the other?
No trial has compared these two brands. Each serving has the same amounts, so there is no reason to expect one to work better.
Most inositol trials were small, and they studied different groups of women. The review behind the 2023 international PCOS guideline looked at 30 trials and called the evidence “limited and inconclusive” (Fitz 2024). A 2025 trial of 464 pregnant women with PCOS found no drop in the combined rate of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and preterm birth: 25.0% with myo-inositol and 26.8% with a placebo (van der Wel 2025). The 40:1 ratio is common, but it rests on two small trials by one author. No large trial shows a 40:1 blend beats plain myo-inositol. More on the research.
Questions
Is Ovasitol or Wholesome Story better?
Buy Ovasitol. Its label says 2 scoops (4 g) a day, which costs $0.96. Wholesome Story’s 180-scoop powder is just as good a buy: the same cost a day and the same NSF listing. Its capsules cost $1.86 a day for 4 g. Buy them if you would rather not mix a powder.
How many Wholesome Story capsules make 4 g?
Eight. Each capsule has 500 mg of myo-inositol, so the 4 capsules on its bottle label give 2 g.
Is Wholesome Story NSF certified?
Yes. NSF/ANSI 173 lists its 40:1 capsules and its 40:1 powder, the same list Ovasitol is on.
